this is the error i am getting
ADODB.Connection.1 error '80004005'

SQLState: S1000
Native Error Code: 1045
[TCX][MyODBC]Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES)

the connectionstring is :
connectionstring = "DRIVER={MySQL}; DATABASE=kkk;SERVER=localhost;  USER=hhh;PASSWORD=rrr; OPTION=16386;"

Note: database name, user and  password are not real

but if i am trying connect with a user that i make in the database (diferent to root) why the error show "root@localhost"

i noticed when i created my databsed
and i created 1 user for it

the cpanel showed me the code how to use it on
perl  or php  etc..

have you tried what the cpanels says?

i used it for a webgallery

but the webgallerydid all the work
i just added teh database name
and user and password

You seem to have the wrong username and database name added to your syntax.

Take another look what the mysql admin creates for you  "[Smile]"

Driver={mySQL};Server=localhost;Database=aaa;UID=bbb;PWD=ccc

this string works.
