Hello, I've spent some time wrestling with getting BlogEngine.net up and running on my Windows Plan website.  Unfortunately, despite my attempts, I see this error:

"Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS."

I've triple-checked my Plesk setup and here's what I did, I FTP'd the blogengine.net files in to a httpdocs/blog folder and then I went into Plesk and navigated to "Web Directories".  I then used the "Add New Virtual Directory" tool and input my blog directory and made sure that the "Create Application" checkbox was activated.

Despite that, I still receive the error and I can't seem to find any documentation that could describe why I'm still seeing the same error.  Has anyone out there run into a similar situation, or can offer any ideas of what to try?  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Chad

Not familiar with this script, but have you asked the developers about the error message you got?  Maybe it is something that comes up often enough they might have a fix for you.

I don't understand why it is not working. I installed it a while back following pretty much the same procedure, as described in Al's excellent "How to Install" video, and it works fine. The only thing that I can think of is that you're trying to access it with the directory name instead of the virtual directory name.

For example, on mine, the files uploaded are in mydomain.com/blog. The virtual directory is named myblog, so to access the blog I enter mydomain.com/myblog, which works fine. If, instead, I enter mydomain.com/blog, I get the same "not configured as an application" error. Could this be your issue?
