Filtering spam with blank FROM field
« on: April 28, 2015, 04:38:34 PM »
The last couple of days has brought an deluge of spam with the From field blank.

I'm trying to use Account Level Filtering in cPanel to delete that, but I'm completely lost on how to do that properly. There's no obvious option of "From = (blank)" that I can choose, but there has to be some way to capture those messages.

Can anyone provide any assistance?

Thanks!

+1 on this please. Would be nice to see some sample filtering rules here.

What appears to have worked for this specific issue is to enable DomainKeys in cPanel which is accessed through Email Authentication.

I say "appears" to work because since I did that, I haven't had any spam with a blank From field. Perhaps that "spam method of the month" just came to an end, but that would be quite a coincidence.

I suppose I could disable DomainKeys to check, but why mess with a good thing? I still get spam to that address, but none with the blank From field. For that matter, it may also be trashing other spam, but I wouldn't be aware of it.
