There should be a switch somewhere in cPanel to "show hidden files". I don't remember offhand where it is, but I'd start looking in the vicinity of the File Manager.

Scroll down in your cPanel over to the bottom and find " reset all interface settings ". Click on it and wait for the page to refresh. Once it is refreshed simply try to access the File Manager once more and you will be prompted with the question to show the hidden files or not.

I don't see any place to re-set the defaults so I can select to view hidden files from File Manager. Could someone please provide more specific information on this? I'm afraid to rep-set everything now that email and custom error pages and all are finally working properly. Any other way to show hidden files?
Thanks.

By default, when you use the File Manager in cPanel, it does not show hidden files. Hidden files are any file that begins with a dot, such as .htaccess. .htaccess is actually a common file to edit, and so if you would like to edit the file using your File Manager, you'll need to ensure you have the option selected to show hidden files.

Showing hidden files in File Manager

Log into your cPanel
Click the "File Manager" icon
Ensure "Show Hidden Files" is selected
Click "Go"
