I guess I have a lack of understanding sometimes where a domain leaves off and a subdomain or add-on domain starts up.

I have domain named xxx.com.  I have a subdomain/add-on domain named yyy.com for the directory /public__html/yyy.  So yyy.com appears standalone to it's viewers

I can use CPanel to add FTP accounts OK but they always seem to end up being userid@xxx.com.  I want my yyy users to only know about yyy not xxx.  How can I cet user@yyy.com to be a userid?  I want them to only be able to upload to certain directories under public_html/yyy.

Also, I see that even when I sign into yyy.com/cpanel (thinking that was what I might need) I'm at the same place as xxx.com/cpanel, right?

Although LP will not officially support this try this:
FTP Server: ftp.add-on.com
User: user@add-on.com
Password: password you pick in cPanel.

I used it back, about a year ago. - I'm on a different server now, but i think itll work.

Hi.

I'd like to do something similar, but I'd like the user logging in to only have access to one folder within the subdomain's directory. Is this possible?

ie     subdomain.com/foldertobeaccessed/
