I don't check cPanel server status very often since most of the numbers apparently don't have much validity, but yesterday I noticed that there was a red indicator for cppop and the status was 'failed'. As of a few minutes ago that condition still existed. Does this mean anything?

Search results on cppop all seemed to be e-mail related, but I am having no problems with mail retrieval via webmail or pop mail.
