At about 1:00am (yes, A.M.), I downloaded a couple of .wav files totaling 10mb. I did this using WS_FTP. I then checked my disk usage via cpanel, and it said that I was using 141mb of my allotted disk space...2 minutes ago, at about 2:00pm MST, I checked, and it said I was at 131.77mb of disk space usage. I don't think this represents the total server usage; this applies only to me. May I ask, what gives? Why did the disk space usage go down? I really don't want to send in a support ticket because there are those out there with more important problems than mine, and I don't want to waste Support's time on my puny issue.

I must admit that I left my former hosting company due to similar problems with counter stats and disk space usage dropping mysteriously. The actual reason that I left was not due to the issue per se, but how I was treated when they could not duplicate the problem. They treated me as if I were some kind of kook, and I don't like paying good money to be treated badly.

Anyway, thanks in advance,

Dread

Did you move or copy the files? Were they still on the server?

I did nothing at all between 1:00 am last Saturday morning, and 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon...on Tuesday, I called Lunarpages, and unfortunately, they were no help. They couldn't explain why it dropped like that. They told me that I only used 123mb of space according to what it said in the disk usage area. Something told me this guy wasn't right...I went back to cpanel, and clicked on the disk usage icon and saw that the tech was looking at one of the subdirectories, and not the parent directory, which stated that there were 138mb of files. There is a 7mb difference between what it says there, and what it says on the side bar in cpanel. I called Lunarpages back, and pointed out the discrepancy, and asked what happened to the 7mb, and why did it drop. The tech then told me that I had 7mb worth of mail in my inbox. Well, I never set up any mail, but I was told that when people e-mail the site, that's where it goes...well, I went into Horde, and dumped 7mb of spam, but that still didn't give me back the difference, nor did it explain the curious drop. On Thursday, I added a new theme to my forum, and now on the cpanel side bar it says that I'm up to 132.94mb of disk space usage. In the disk usage area, it says that I'm using 139.58mb of space...I checked again a few minutes ago, and it still says the same, but that doesn't answer the original question, nor does it tell me where the 7mb of disk space went to.

My guess is that there was an  Alien Abduction or maybe it went into a black hole. Confused argh...!!!
