I'm interested in using NetTracker as my statistics solution but require a path to my log files. I can't find it while using the browse function. Anyone know what the path would be?

Oops. I'm guessing I would have had to tick the "Archive Log Files to home directory" option in the Raw Access Logs section of CPanel. Having done this, is there anyway to get the reports prior to ticking the box?

powdork,

Not that I'm aware of.

Also, fyi, there is one archive file for each month that is updated once a day. You'll find them in the "logs" folder off your account root.

Thanks Jim, I figured the last part out. For anyone listening, this really makes a great software like NetTracker worth much less. Why can't we have real time log files? If I had known this prior to setting up my account, I would have paid more (or less) to do it elsewhere. Crying or Very sad

There IS a log file that is updated throughout the day. It's under 'Raw Access Logs' in cPanel.

Really? I sure would like to see it.  Smile

I have a cPanel entry called "Raw Log File". If I click on it, I get "Directory Listing Forbidden". Wazzup wit dat?  Confused (I'm using the "Monsoon" theme in cPanel. I do not have a "Raw Access Logs" entry.)

Jim, could be that your theme is why you don't have the "Raw Access Logs" icon.  I have it like TranzNDance.  I just used the default theme that cPanel was assigned upon signup.

That "Raw Access Logs" can be downloaded then you need to unzip, then change the name of the file to a "txt" extension and open it up in a spreadsheet or database.

Yep, I remember seeing that icon when I had the default theme for cPanel.

However, it's a moot point. I don't need access to the raw logs. The archived logs do it for me. (Good thing they don't do it to me...  Smile )

Yes, you can access it via FTP.  You'll find it under the "logs" folder in the root (outside the "public_html")

Yes, i have been accessing the one that is updated daily, but I can't (AFAIK) access the raw logs as they exist throughout the day via ftp. Fortubnately, for the site I am using this for it isn't as important as it is for some of my other sites, which require me to be able to drill down through stats in almost real time. I would still like to have this functionality, as my site is my baby, and i always like to see who she is hanging out with.

Why does the forum software always turn ftp into a link?

Have you checked out cPanel / Web/FTP Stats / Latest Visitors ? It gives a snapshot of the latest activity.

You may notice that it didn't turn ftp into a link, but it turns ftp. into a link. I think it does the same with http and http://

It's a "feature".  Smile

I know, but I don't want a snapshot. Maybe I'm asking too much, but I wants what I wants. The host I left to come here offered it and I just assumed that because lunarpages is so far ahead of them in every other respect that this would be standard.
