Hello,
my company needs to purchase a dedicated server and since we use some windows apps to integrate a gis/map webservice, we think we will purchase a Windows 2003 powered one (we were thinking about a dedicated III server with Windows 2003). My questions are: can we install any application we want on our ded server? Is it possible to replace the standard IIS server with Apache?

Thanks!

Hi,

You are free to install any legal software of your choice on your server. Lunarpages admins will be able to assist with custom installations for $75/hour assistance fee as well. Please be advised that you can also ask any pre-sales questions to dedicated staff by emailing dedicated@lunarpages.com. Please advise, if you have any further questions.

You can have Apache installed on a Windows server, but do NOT try to run IIS and Apache on it at the same time -- they will conflict. You can have Apache listen on an alternate port if you so choose, but if you have them both listening on port 80, everything web-related will stop working.
