We're looking at a move up to dedicated hosting, and I'm wondering about these three control panels.  I'm pretty comfortable with the command-line and manually editing configuration files.  The other admins tend not to get into the highly detailed stuff.  I'm thinking that LunarPanel may be good enough for doing the basics that they'll want, and I can do the rest myself.  Is there any compelling reason for us to spring for the extra $25/35 month for Plesk or CPanel?

Hello,

If you have some experience with Linux, it sounds good to proceed with LunarPanel which has a not big amount of features but still allows customizations in server configuration. Why cPanel and Plesks cost so much is because they allow a user to easily manage the server without any experience in system administration.

Please advise if you have any further questions or concerns.

If you plan on having others access the control panel you may want something like plesk/cpanel..

While I myself know a lot of linux and could easily search around on how to do something I may not, I have others who use the control panel and it makes things easier for them to have a point and click type of interface. As well it helps me just to be more lazy Happy Happy Joy Joy

Isn't Webmin an option? For basic stuff it's pretty easy, I think.

I don't think Webmin is good for that. It still requires you to understand linux basics, for example in order to create a FTP account.
