Are there any instructions / documentation on the type of cluster software used for load-balancing? I have 3 dedicated servers, 1 is a high-performance system. Yet no one seems able to answer:
1) How to setup DNS to get everything working.
2) What cluster software is used.
3) How to configure said cluster software.

This would go a long way to getting everything working. Smile

Thank you.

Hi Veuil,

It is hard to give any suggestions to you without knowing what was used to build the site (i.e. static html pages, or PHP +MySQL or something else).

1 dynamic flash page with a swf container being served from cachefly.com. We are expecting 35,000 consecutive users (easily). I am using MySQL 5.x + PHP 5.2. A scheduler runs every 5 seconds on the database server to update daily events and adjust content in the SWF file on a daily basis every day at 1am EST.
I wanted to use lighthttpd since the content is minimal but was told that apache is the way to go. lighthttpd is used by such big sites as wikipedia, and youtube.
Since posting this I have redirected my domain to the virtual IP address I was provided.

Unfortunately it seems I have broken the lunar pages panel in the process. Smile

Cheers.

Hi Veuil,

In your situation, I would use one powerful server with MySQL and multiple servers with web servers. I would still recommend using lighttpd or nginx for static content. There is a Load-Balanced Servers addon available for dedicated customers where Lunarpages configures load-balancing between a list of machines on specific IP which would be useful in this scenario.

I'll look into nginx. Currently using lighthttpd 1.5 for async io. Getting good speeds from it.
Running a source version of mysql 5 on a high performance server 8gb of ram, quad core, scsi, etc.
Superb machines and great support.
I am seriously considering using Lunarpages for an overseas implementation to serve Poland, UK, Romania, Czech, Slovakia, Hungary, and Sweden.

Thank you. Smile
