Hello, We have a dedicated hosting plan and are having trouble with email going out in a timely fashion.  I have been working with tech support but haven't had much improvement yet.  What's happening is a simple email from one address to another is ending up in the remote queue and then it takes many hours to be sent depending on how many emails are in the queue.

Two days ago I ended up deleting  a few thousand emails because it was taking 2 days for email to be sent.  With no mail in the queue things worked a bit better but they still built up in the queue.   In 1.5 days we are back up to about 1400 emails in the queue and it's taking about 8 to 10 hours for mail to be sent.

The tech support sent me this but I'm not sure what it means.
"I have checked maillog file and find lines: Sep 30 01:37:00 server qmail: 1222763820.926411 delivery 10629: deferral: Connected_to_75.180.132.244_but_sender_ and Sep 30 01:35:17 server qmail: 1222763717.127741 delivery 10589: deferral: CNAME_lookup_failed_temporarily._(#4.4.3)/ Sep 30 01:35:17 server qmail: 1222763717.127795 status: local 0/10 remote 11/20 Sep 30 01:35:35 server qmail: 1222763735.178364 delivery 10590: deferral: CNAME_lookup_failed_temporarily._(#4.4.3)/ Sep 30 01:35:35 server qmail: 1222763735.178416 status: local 0/10 remote 10/20 it' can be a reason why some mails still in query /var/qmail/bin/qmail-qstat messages in queue: 84 messages in queue but not yet preprocessed: 0 "

We need help with our mail !

Hi Losthillsguy,

How mail server works is keep emails that are having troubles with delivery in the queue and periodically try to re-send them. Usually these retries happen in increasing delays to allow just accepted emails to be attempted to send right away.

Does the issue that you experience happen with emails to specific domains? Are you doing any mailing list sendings? Please also provide the number of the ticket you have opened with regards to this issue and I'll try to look into this further.

Hi Ticket number [TYQL5004AXY4]

It looks like every email sent goes into the queue. If I send myself an email it takes from an hour to two days to get it.  I have been manually deleing emails from the queue to keep things moving.

Domain doesn't seem to matter or whether there is one recipient of 100. We have a forum linked to an email list so we do have some emails with 100 recipients.

I just deleted everything in the queue and sent a test mail. It went out right away without going into the queue.  Now I am going to let them start building up again starting at 12 noon pst.

Hi,

I have made adjustments to the DNS settings on your server and updated the ticket. Please reply back to the ticket about how that improves the situation.
