Hi,

I have some general question concerning the Dedicated server plans.

1) For the Plan 3 with 200 GB Hard disk, is it possible to take a second Harddisk of 200 GB and let they function as Raid 1 ?

2) If I have a Plan 3 with 2 X 200 GB Hard Disk, can I take a second server with the same configuration as Load Balance Server and let the 2 servers function together as Raid 1, so that the server 2 can be used as Load Balancer and in the same time as Raid 1 (Mirror of the Server 1 ) ? and do I have than 6000 GB Traffic instead of 3000 GB ?

3) If I have 4 Servers of the Plan 3, with 4 X 2 X 200 GB Harddisk, can they work together as one server and with Raid 5 ? and do I have than 12000 GB Traffic instead of 3000 ?

I just wish to know where are the limits of the Lunarpages Servers and if I choose a Dedicated Plan, that I will not have to move as soon as the Plan will be to slow.

Hi there.

To answer your questions:

1) Yes, we can install a second drive and configure RAID 1.

2) We can do a load balanced 2 server config like this. The /home partition would mirror across both servers, and it can be configured so one is an "overflow" server to handle traffic that the first cannot handle. You would get 6,000 GB transfer with this setup.

3) We can do a 4 or more server cluster if you'd like. Unfortunately we cannot do RAID 5, as the servers cannot accept more than 2 disks. You would have 12,000 GB transfer with 3 large servers though.

I hope this answers your questions. If you have more, please feel free to ask here, or email us at dedicated@lunarpages.com
