Does anyone have an idea why Dreamweaver would freeze up when trying to preview through Internet Explorer?

I've tried deleting IE from the browser setup and repointing it but it just keeps freezing up.  Netscape seems to be working fine.  It's just IE that keeps freezing.

Very frustrating! Grr..!!

I think it's got something to do with CSS after further trial and error.  I can open up pages that are not defined by external CSS.

Have you installed the MX 2004 free updater?  I haven't had this particular problem, but it has helped a ton with my other speed and stability issues.

I installed the update right after I loaded the software.  I am fairly certain that it is an external CSS issue.  I was working with a tutorial and creating an external CSS page.  IE just did not want to load, Netscape loaded fine.  Weird.

I had IE working fine, until I switched it to secondary browser, and put netscape as primary.  Now it freezes every time.  Is IE your primary browser?  If not, try switching so it's the F12 baby.

You running Windows XP?

I have the same problem.

The work around I came up with was to open IE first and have an open browser window then do the preview.  It seems to stop the problem.

After further trial and error, I found that some spyware on my computer was interferring with Dreamweaver.  After running Ad-Aware and Spybot, I eliminated the problem.  Happened on two different computers running Windows XP and both times it was fixed by checking for spyware.  I suggest you try that first to see if it helps.
