Hello once again everyone,

Geez... I could be kicking myself in the butt right now.

I do somewhat apologize for any seemingly & completely ignorant posts in the past. LMAO...

All this time, I have been all concerned & busting my rear to learn php & some java & some Perl simply to get some forms running (which is not at all bad, of course, & I'm glad I know what little bit that I do) when just about everything I've wanted to do has basically been right at my fingertips in Dreamweaver MX through server behaviors & data bindings, etc. Duhhh...geezus! Took me a little while to figure that out!! (Great book: SAMS *Teach Yourself Dreamweaver MX Application Development in 21 Days*)

I am a bit confused at this point though.

I have a nice form working in TFMail...I finally got that working & everything looks pretty good - but it doesn't insert anything into mySQL.

I have a nice form that is created dynamically in Dreamweaver...basically the same form as the TF form. It looks good & works great as well - but it doesn't email me a copy of the submitted data from the form.

Is it easier to create a php script to e-mail me the dynamically created DW form??

Or is it easier to create a mySQL string that inserts the data from the TFMail form into my database table?

Or...am I talking about a 6 of one & half-dozen of the other?

Also, is there any easy way to do this??

Thanks much for any suggestions or help,

Humble Dude

Post a link to your form so we can test it out and see where your problem may be.

Also, post the info from your scripts, so we can see if your variables are written correctly.

If your TFMail form is working but the problem is just not sending you the email, then, let's try to just figure out why your TFMail isnt sending you the email instead of starting from scratch with another script/method.

Entering the data into mySQL may be something you can post in the PHP section of this forum to see if someone who knows PHP can help you with how to enter the string for the database connection and input.

Hi Leigh,

Thank you for your response. It is appreciated.

However, I am getting close to having the problem resolved. A few (probably several..perhaps another day or 2) more hours of reading, searching forums, & hacking code, & I will get it.

Unless you are familiar with working with data bindings, server behaviors, & mySQL in Dreamweaver, it is doubtful that you could help me much. I'm not sure, but I think all I need to add is a simple PHP mail script to my form with an *if submit* statement. If not, like I said, I'll find a way...even if it takes me the rest of the week.

Thank you again for your response.

Oh...and as far as my *contributions*??

If I had come across a question I could answer, I would have been more than happy to *contribute*. But unfortunately, I don't see anyone asking about sound re-enforcement, guitar setups, drum setups & tricks...therefore I'm of very little help...

I happen to be visiting forums as a *learner"...not a teacher...not yet, anyway.

Hi Humble Dude,

If you want to create your forms in DW & use dynamic elements attached to data bindings, etc., you can use cgi or you can mailto.

To use the mailto option just create your form and insert the required fields. Next highlight the form and enter in the *action* field on the property inspector:

mailto:your email address here.

Hope that helps you out a bit, HD...

LOL, okay fair enough  Smile, but DON'T abolish and persecute us for not being able to answer your questions, sometimes.  I think that you haven't really been fair to us in that way.

I posted to your other thread before coming to this one, so I was a little "sharp", but you bring that out in us, you know, LOL  Smile. I said what I did to you, because in my opinion you are being quite unfair in your abolishments of us.

Anyway, your posts today in this thread have been much more "Humble" and worth it to me to give a reply.

You seem to be getting very knowledgeable yourself about all this stuff, so maybe someday you can be of service to help a newbie with their problems.

Take care!

P.S. "mailto" is not going to be good since there's that vulnerability issue, so PHP might be better.  I paid someone on this forum to redo all my forms to PHP, so that may be what you might want to do (or do the PHP scripting yourself) for your forms.

Post in the PHP section if you need questions answered for that, cuz there are more people perusing that forum than this DW one.  Also, try to make your posts shorter though (not "rant" as much, LOL), cuz people get overwhelmed (or just plain takes too much time/effort) with questions that are too lengthy.  That may be the problem you are having with not getting the results you need (although, like I said, you were answered in all the other times you posted, so don't get all huffy when ONE of your posts get overlooked. And hey, you didn't even give it 24 hours before you started abolishing, sheesh  Smile  ).

Anyway, hope you achieve Nirvana soon, LOL!  Luff Ya
