Hi,

First of all for those who aren't familiar with Dreamweaver extensions, they are like hacks you can add to Dreamweaver application to increase its capabilities when you are creating a site.  You can find a listing and discussion of extensions available for Dreamweaver at the DW Developer center at http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mx/dreamweaver/extensions.html (click on Dreamweaver Exchange for the listing of the extensions)

This is a list of some cool, freely downloadable extensions that will improve your DW experience:

Google Search, V1.0.0 (places the capability to add a google search field on your site) - http://littlink.com/wmgkz
Mambo CMS Template Builder, V1.0.0 (if you use mamboserver and wish to create your templates in Dreamweaver rather than in your browser, this lets you do that) - http://littlink.com/4qorb
WebContent (Import PDF as HTML), V1.0.26 (extracts PDF documents and makes them into HTML or CSS-based HTML) - http://littlink.com/ggsn5
ImpAKT-demo, V2.1.0 (PHP and database tool to provide GUI customization rather than having to hand code PHP in Dreamweaver, this is a demo version) - http://littlink.com/yt0ha

As I find more good extensions, I will add them here.

Have a Blessed Day

Twebman has a great group of extentions on his page located at:

http://www.twebman.lunarpages.com/cgi-bin/dirxtend.pl

www.dmxzone.com Has a weath of information and offers some free extentions and really great ones you can purchase.  Their forum is very helpful when you are looking up how to do something.

One thing to be careful of.. some older extentions written for previous versions of Dreamweaver do not work well with MX.  They will cause MX to crash.. some of those are documented at the forums on Macromedia's site.

Great info, gals!

You should make this thread a "sticky", Miraenda. You might want to add a copy of Fuzz's post regarding his tutorial references in this thread, too.

How do you apply the extensions, once they are in the extension manager???

It normally it tells you in Extension Manager after you install them. It will say something like: access in insert->templates->yourextension  Or something like that.  If you go to your extension manager and highlight the extension it should give you the descrip.  Each extension normally has a different location depending on what it is used for.  For instance, some of the PVII extensions are accessed in "Behaviors" but the Google extension is accessed via the "insert" menu. DW makes it really handy.

I use the Mac version, so it may look different on your computer if you are on Win.  I don't know how good Macromedia is at making both versions look similar.

Thanks, found them now. The one for the KAOS panel had me confused at first.

There is one particular extension, called PHP_Go_to_Detail_Page, that caused me problems even in the older versions.  Mcaffe found a virus in it, supposedly, so I don't use it anymore.  May want to beware of that one.  It's the only one I know of at this point.

Anyway, MX now contains a built-in PHP master/detail page wizard.
