I had a lot of trouble with this and searched the web for tutorials but came up with nothing that worked well. So I figured out how to do it and I wrote my own. I hope it's helpful.

How to connect to your mySQL database in Dreamweaver:
http://fantasticguides.com/guide.php?read=quick-php-in-dreamweaver

How to build a database-driven application using the Dreamweaver GUI:
http://fantasticguides.com/guide.php?read=dreamweaver-php

I hope that this is useful to those trying to use these features.
