thanks for getting back with me TWebMan!

for those who are curious for the answer to my last question, he recommended I take out <!-- InstanceBeginEditable.....blah blah --> and <!-- InstanceEndEditable....blah blah --> in the template itself in favor of <!-- TemplateBeginEditable....blah blah --> and <!-- TemplateEndEditable....blah blah --> and then when I go to create a page based on the template, DW should convert that HTML into the "Instance" form! 

and wah-lah, presto change-o, my template/template-based page is fixed!
