I'm new on this and here I go.

I did this.

1. used Photoshop v7 to make my page

2. opened a new html document to insert that photoshop image that is my home page (without any rollover images, just to see if it's work) in Dreamweaver MX 2004 tryal version.

3. I set the site and the connection to my server was good. I've see the files inside the site through Dreamweaver.

4. Selected the folder public_html and uploaded the home page that I made.

5. I type my url on the browser(Windows Explorer) and only see my site directory files, cgi-bin, etc... and not my custom homepage.

I read in this forum that I need to create a file with the name index, but what kind of file and where? I have to put the files including images inside index folder, or just to create an index folder?

I think it's kind of tricky to see your page go live, but I don't figure it out yet.

Please Help!

The first page for your site must be named index.htm or index.html (index.php, index.jsp, index.asp) to show automatically. It's an html page. It goes in public_html.

Also in dream weaver, before you load your pages and files to the server, you can go to file/preview/ browser choice and preview your page in the browser type of your choice...
