I think the Basic plan has everything absolutely required. If you're going to collect personal information from customers, such as name/address/telephone and such, they may be more comfortable if those pages are under SSL (https:). For this, you would need to buy and install an SSL certificate, and have a dedicated IP address (extra cost). I don't think  PayPal requires SSL on your site (they use it on theirs), but you might check the specific requirements for WPS just to be sure. PayPal will handle all the credit card transaction in a supposedly secure manner. I haven't set up WPS, so I can't give you any war stories. You might want to browse around the osCommerce community forums to see if you can get any useful information there. Good luck!

Ok finally had time to get back to this,

I have set-up paypal WPS, uploaded a downloadable product file for testing purposes, created sandbox accounts to test the sale. Everything seems to be working, I receive an e-mail as both buyer and seller. I believe the file has all of the attributes set so it can be downloaded. Now the question.
When I go to the site and sign in as a customer, it says pending under order history. Will the test through sandbox actually confirm, then allow the download? what sort of time period should this take?

thanks for the help, I still need to sort out the tax aspect, but it is slowly getting there.

a little further along, and of course a new set of questions.

I was able to succesfully create a test download, and download the file, but only after manually changing the order status in the customers/orders section of OSC.

Is there a way that the order status will be automatically changed to allow download after payment approval by paypal? Having to approve each order manually isn't going to work as I want this to be an almost instant transaction.

About sales tax. In Paypal I have set the status of the United States to active. So will that take care of the tax automatically? If so, my site is not going to reflect the total product value with tax included, so what do I do about that?

Lastly, the paypal buttons. How do I incorporate the buttons seen on the paypal site? I see the code to cut and paste, but did not have any luck getting it to work. I would like to display their buttons to inspire more confidence in purchasers.

Thank you for your assistance!

Still haven't resolved the issue with order status, I posted on OSC forum, but haven't gotten a response for a few days now. Any help with any points I mentioned in my last post would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
