So I changed the permissions to 644 on the /include/configure.php file in my OSCommerce cart, so i could edit the file.

Now when I go to the shopping cart I get this message at the top:
"Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/oldmas2/public_html/shop/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file."

So I tried to change the permissions back to 444, but I still see the warning, and when I check the perms on the file, it still says 644.
Anyone else experience this?  How can I get it to stick to 444?

thanks,
ginger

Ok, changing permissions through the File Manager in cPanel seemed to work better than my FTP program.

damn, i love answering my own questions.

Thanks for the tip! I used Dreamweaver, but apparently, they weren't 'sticking' so I went into the Cpanel and voila! changes stuck!

thanks again!   Bouncin for Joy
