I have a cart based on zencart( at www.techseller.co.uk and I don't like it. It's clumsy and functional but i want something more easy to use and looks good.

Something like http://www.mediaprostore.com/home.php would be ideal.

The carts that come with LP are OK but-
1.cubecart-taxes and shipping is flawed & a lot of hacks recently
2.zencart , oscommerce and Agora need too much customisation(coding) to get what i want.

I spent 6 months working on techseller (zencart)and i'm still not happy, i can't get it exactly right.

This is what i want(as i'm sure some will agree)-

1.Cheap under $200 roughly
2.no monthly fees, just a one off charge for software
3paypal compatible and  as many other gateways as possible
4.loads of skins
5  1 click, or close, install
6.taxes cofigurable for uk and the world
7 shipping- flat fee,by weight,by price,by zone etc
8 good store manager
very customisable-move boxes around, different currencies, colours, add pages, clean checkout procedue, etc etc

Hopefully you get the idea!!

I have searched forum and the net.

Is there a top 10 of carts out there??

All help appreciated, thanks. Thumbs Up

This is just a personal opinion but I really like osCommerce.  It has very good community support, a wide range of mods available, and many skins, both free and premium, readily available.

I aint saying oscommerce is bad, it's just hard to customise, the modules require copying files manually as does upgrades, nightmare if you have 1000's of items and it all gos wrong-even with a backup.

I would really like to know though, what alternatives there are to the 4 free ones, or if there's a load of stuff i'm missing on oscomm Thumbs Up

If anyone's interested i went for  the cart, it has a nice skin and lots of extras but not that easy to customise. Tech support is excellent but limited, you get some free points for support but after 5 queries you need to buy some more, bit of a con really.

That's one reason I went for osCommerce, lots of extras and the price is right.  Of course unless you are at least somewhat familiar with php, updates and mods can be difficult.

Try www.equalshop.com Smile

They offer free hosting, or can even install on your current host.

Pretty good shopping cart with loads of features.

OSCommerce is a good cart.  Lots to it, including a decent customer tracking system.  I've set that one up for a few of my clients.

I have a cart available:
http://www.twebman.com/custom-scripts.php

I ususlly set up a simple, easy to configure cart.

I also do custom carts.  I also don't usually plug on the forums so 'nuff said Smile

Congrats on getting your site up and running. I am curious what shopping cart you ended up using.

Thanks! Cool
