I'm getting ready to establish an SSL certificate for an online store using Joomla/Virtuemart. Currently the site installation is in root www.mystore.com and wonder which is better?

https://www.mystore.com

or

https://secure.mystore.com

If the site is setup in www.mystore.com and you install the certificate as secure.mystore.com do I have to do some kind of redirect so https knows its serving from www.mystore.com for transactions?

super thanks!

They would both work the same, would be strictly a matter of preference.

If it is specifically installed on secure.mystore.com then only https://secure.mystore.com would work.

Hope this helps,

Hey thanks for responding Randy. I just did a search on google and "https://secure." turned up 200K hits and "https://" turned up 36 Million. You're right either will work and it looks like most setups are the latter.
