I was wondering why I haven't been getting any mail all day.  So I tested by sending myself emails.  They don't even show up on the server.  I can send mail fine, but if I reply, they  never arrive..

Yesterday i sent myself a large .exe file to get it to my other computer.  Windows blocked it for being spam.  It was one of the last things I got before my email stopped working, so I thought maybe the lunarpages servers thought it was spam too, and blocked me.  just a thought...

How do I get it working again??  I submitted a ticket.  Is my mail gone for good??

These forums are for users to help other users. This is the sort of thing that will have to be resolved through your support ticket.

My local Linux group sent out this notice:
Quote
Those of you using SpamAssassin to filter your mail may want to watch
things a bit more closely than usual; it seems that current versions
still include the rule known as FH_DATE_PAST_20XX, which adds 2-3 points
to any message with a 2010 date in the headers. Surprisingly enough,
such dates have suddenly become common, with the result that
SpamAssassin may be generating more false positives than usual. The fix
is to add:

    score FH_DATE_PAST_20XX 0.0

to the local.cf file.

Maybe something like that has bitten you?

I'll check that, though I doubt that's my issue.    The only emails I seen to receive are those that I sent myself (even from another service).  Haven't received regular emails since 1/14 on two separate LP accounts on different servers.    Even if I received no normal emails, I still should be receiving the automatic emails, and several dozen from various lists i'm on.

Recommended test, for anyone who is experiencing email receive issues:

1. Turn off spam assassin.
2. Remove any custom filtering you may have setup.
3. Setup an email account at gmail.com or hotmail.com, make sure to not use any spam filtering.
4. Email from the new account.
5. Give up to 4 hours for email to arrive (this is due to using gmail).
6. If email does arrive check the gmail.com or hotmail.com email address for any bouncebacks.

If the email arrives:
Good chance this is the sending email service.  This is especially true if the issue is receiving email from one specific domain, but you receive from elsewhere without issue.

If the email does not arrive:
Contact support, explain issue, provide email address and password for affected email address. If sending email address receives a bounceback, provide that in the support ticket.   Provide if you are or are not using custom MX records.

The above is generally the initial steps that I use when testing email accounts for users.

I do receive email when sent from a separate account (non LP).     I did find one thing out however,   when an email is sent from my website, either by an online 'contact us' page, or when the email is generated by the website automatically (when a customer places an order for example),  I don't receive it.

Has something changed in the php email functions on the LP servers, or is there something in the php configuration that has changed?  It's odd that both my LP accounts on different stopped at about the same time.

tarheit :

Are you by chance hosting your email elsewhere or hosting email with lunarpages?

If you are hosting email elsewhere, then contact support with the MX records needed, as most likely not added to server, also domain may not be in "remote domains" to allow for the script to look elsewhere for the mail server.

Are you using a Lunarpages hosted email address as the "sending" email address?

I would recommend you contact support with your issue at support.lunarpages.com (web) or support@lunarpages.com , with the following:

1. Exact steps to duplicate, including all urls and if needed a username and password.
2. Email address you are having the form send to, including a password used to access the email address.
3. Email address you are using as the "sending" email address in your form, including a password to access the email address.  (If you do not have one, are you using sendmail?  if you are, this may be the reason they are not sending)
4. Url to this forum page.
5. Last 4 digits of the card on record (for verification) as there will most likely be changes needed in order for the tech who gets the ticket to test issue/fixes.

Thanks, I'll definably have to contact support.  All the email addresses are hosted by LP and all have been working for 2-3 years with no issues.
