Can I please have an explanation why the Danzig server seems to go down for a short period of time every so often, say 5 minutes.  Also, I am not recieving all of my e-mail?  Where is it going?  E-mail is very vital to me and I need to recieve ALL of it.

It probably isn't going down every 5 minutes, that would be very unlikely.

Is your ISP having problems?

Regarding your e-mail, please e-mail support@lunarpages.com (with another account!) or telephone the office to get it looked at.

I think he means it goes down for about 5 minutes. I've experienced this on the Libra server too-- I check my site about once every two days, and several times it's been down and gets up a few minutes later.

Mussavcom knows what I am talking about.  The server goes down for 5 minutes, not every 5 minutes.  It goes down for say 5 minutes every couple of days, and this is only time that I happen to see.  My bigger concern, however, is the email disappearing.

My concern is that this happens about once every two weeks for me as far as I know -- and I only check my site about 7 times every two weeks. This means that out of those 7 quick checks, about 1 of them shows the server being down. That's bad.

Hi triscuit,

I certainly understand your concern if you aren't receiving emails, but are these emails bouncing or just disappearing? How do you know you aren't receiving all of them basically.  Next, do you have Spam Assassin enabled? Is it possible at all that some of these emails you haven't received have been tagged as spam by the filter? If you do have Spam Assassin enabled, do you also use the Spam Box to view the emails?

Although the 5 minute outtages you are describing are worrisome (I have access to the emails the techs send whenever there is a server reboot or POP3 disabled, and danzig or libra aren't appearing there as having frequent outtages like this), I am most concerned about determining why your email would be missing.  Even during a POP3 disablement or reboot, the messages shouldn't disappear.  Please provide us with more information as well as contact support@lunarpages.com about this as soon as possible.

Thanks

I can tell that the E-mail just seems to be disappearing, me not recieveing it, because paypal always sends a receipt after you pay for something.  I have not gotten this email, that was back on Jan 15th.  I shouldnt say myself, but one of my users.  This e-mail has not come through yet.  It me have been bounced back to their server, but there is no way of knowing.  I did have another occassion where the email bounced back to the sender.  This is also unacceptable.  Spam assassin is not enabled and therefore the spam box is off to.

even if the whole server was down for 12 hours or more you should still recieve email sent to you. Most likely the server paypal sends out their email with is configured to send out if it fails on first try.

Mail queues is usually run every hour, and retry time is usually set to 24 - 72 hours.

So the answer is. If email being down for five minutes every few days (if thats true) you would still be recieving your email without any issues.
