This is a big issue here....I have 40 users ringing my phone this morning for support. What is going on??  I am on Mercury (mostly) and Aquarius.

Email sending or receiving is not happy this morning - Tests show it's just my accounts on Mercury Server.

EXACT same settings on Aquarius and Scorpio (on same OUTLOOK / Same PC) work just fine.  This is a Mercury related PROBLEM - Again!

What is up with Mercury, it does wacky stuff every week....If I had the time to change servers I definitely would, but I don't have time this month for that grief.

Please somebody take a look at Mercury, reboot it, kick it, something!

The Error is...

Im sitting on hold waiting for Techical Suport right now...

It appears stopped receiving e-mail this morning around Midnight (12:00 AM CST 2/5/04).

Outlook Express connects to my accounts just fine, but nothing comes down the pipe. If I log onto NeoMail there are no messages waiting... I tried sending myself a few messages from hotmail and my friend sent me a message from his yahoo account but the messages just disappear... no return to sender or anything... lost in the lymbo of cyberspace.

I've tried sending mail with both outlook and NeoMail... below is the NeoMail error message:

ERROR SENDING MAIL
Sorry, there was a problem sending your message. Please click your browser's Back button, check your message, and try again.

NeoMail version 1.26

And that's about it... I've been on hold 15 minutes or more at this point... anyone have any more news as to whats going on and if the problem will be resolved soon?

Thanks,

Ben

My research this morning with all my users confirms the following quote from Ionad

"It appears stopped receiving e-mail this morning around Midnight (12:00 AM CST 2/5/04). "

9:16am MST
I am now able to send to other users on Mercury, but not to the outside world or other LunarPages Servers (Aquarius or Scorpio).
I am Receiving from outside world on Mercury now - a few emails just came in.  SENDING still an issue.

Okay... right as I got through to techical support it appears that my e-mail started working again... I got the test messages that I sent myself in the past 20 minutes... what happened to the messages I should have received between 12:00 AM and 10 AM, is yet to be determined.

The guy I talked to on the phone didn't really know anything, to the point where it was frustrating... he just said the techs were looking at it and that the service should be up and running in 30 minutes... I asked him what happened and he said that they must have performed some kind of maintenance or something (he didn't really know) and that cause the service outage...

Anyway, to make the long story short... I suggestted that next time they perfrom mataintence that could disrupt any type of service, we should be notified first. But he said that Techs are off site can't do that, which sounded funky to me...

Lunar Pages has been great, I'm not going anywhere and I'll still recomend them... and I'm not as upset about the e-mail problem as I am about how it is/was being handled. The support guy didn't really know anything about what was going on, why it happend, or how to prevent us from being in the dark if it's gong to happen again. This is just an area for improvement at LP.

Thanks,

Ben

This is exactly the experience I have every week with LunarPages support on the Mercury server issues.  They just take it down whenever they want and will not take kindly to suggestions to reboot it every night at midnight or so in order to keep it stable.  They recharge the RAID in the middle of the day "When it needs it" every 4-5 days or so, but won't do that work on a late night maintenance window every 2 days for example so it has less to sync and would have a far less negative effects on the customer..it's like they just couldn't give a damn.  They have offered to move me, but what is the point?  LunarPages POLICIES need to change, not me and my account hopping from server  to server.  HELLO!

Well I don't know about the Mercury server or whatever, but I've also been having problems with my email the last few days. I use Apple Mail and have all my server settings to mail.mydomain.com. First I got some error sending mail. Then my client wouldn't download any new mail, yet webmail would show tonnes of new messages. Now people are claiming they've never received email I send. I've been generally happy with Lunar Pages, but these types of issues are deal-breakers...hope it's acknowledged soon, corrected and doesn't happen anymore!

Hi,

I'm on the orion server and I got also error messages on all my email accounts.
I solved the problem under Outlook express by going to

utilities/accounts/properties/server

Than flag " My server needs authentification for outgoing mail "

if you get another error message to send the mails than change the + with a @ but only in this section.

test+test.com to test@test.com

For me it worked

This seems to work on my home computer OutlookExpress to send from Mercury to the outside world.  Will see if my office users  on Outlook2000-2003 will work with this fix as well..

Well, our Outlook and OutlookExpress users in the office cannot get mail out whatsoever.  Have tried all fixes and authentication and mixes of fixes all yesterday and this moring.  I have been screwing with this for 15 hours now.

Looks like I'll be pulling my accounts and finding another host.  I cannot deal w/ this crap every month.  LP seems to be getting too big to HELP the customer and keep their services to a level of operation that I demand.

Hi Wes,

We are swamped with mail and login issues created by the Microsoft updates at this time.

We will never grow too big to support our customers, our staff will increase, as we grow.

I had the same issues with my mail also and I deleted the accounts in outlook express and recreated them and this helped my situation caused by the MS updates.

Exim was upgraded on Mercury this morning and I believe this resolved any mercury mail issues.

If you still have mail issues, please let us know and we will resolve this with you.

What are the MS updates that have caused these mail/login issues?
