We've had a flood of mail tickets the last few days.  Here are some suggestions:

If you are having trouble receiving mail or sending mail, please try changing the POP3 and SMTP mail server to 'mail.domain.com' or simply 'domain.com' where 'domain.com' is your actual domain name.

Also, please Ensure for outgoing (SMTP) mail you have SMTP authentication enabled.

Some internet service providers require that you use their outgoing servers.  Please also try your ISPs smtp mail server settings.

Below is a compiled list of clients and which ones are and are not smtp auth friendly.

Apple Mail part of OS X.1.3 LOGIN, PLAIN
Entourage 9 (MSOffice 2001) LOGIN, PLAIN
Eudora 4.x CRAM-MD5 Not supported
Netscape 3.x                 Not supported
Netscape 4.0x                 LOGIN
Netscape 4.5 - 4.7x         LOGIN, PLAIN
Netscape 6.0.x                 Not Recommended
Netscape 6.2                 LOGIN, PLAIN
Outlook Express 4.x and up         LOGIN
Outlook 97 8 (MSOffice 97) Not supported
Outlook 98 8                 LOGIN, PLAIN
Outlook 2000 9 (MSOffice 2000) PLAIN, Encrypted
Outlook 2002 10 (MSOffice XP) PLAIN, Encrypted

Please also remove and recreate the account in your mail program if the above suggestions do not work.

I changed the settings to the ISP and that seemed to work.  I don't why it would work just fine for 9 months and now all of a sudden start giving me 503 errors.  I did make sure that SMTP was set first and that didn't work Smile  Thanks for all the help Amy !!! Smile Applause

Did you install any Microsoft updates?  There are a few glitches with these, this week.

Have you tried removing the account and re-adding in your mail client?

Amy,

This is the exact same errors that I am getting as well.  The most recent patch that I installed was the one that just came out over Windows Update.

Regards

Hi Brian,

I'm the same mate.  The update is giving me errors mail/cpanel/webmail.

I recreated the account in Outlook Express and it's fine now.  I also uninstalled the update.

Has Microsoft got a new patch out to fix all this yet by chance?
