I've been receiving the following for some time...

SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<redact@askMeForMyDomain.com> SIZE=22212:
host mx4.hotmail.com [65.55.92.184]: 550 SC-001 Unfortunately, messages from 74.50.6.175 weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors.

I understand I can file a trouble ticket - but perhaps there is a more proactive way that Lunarpages could handle this?

I'm going to do some research. There is a page of diagnostics located at http://mail.live.com/mail/services.aspx . As I get time, I'll use them, then report back here...

OK - that was quick.

There doesn't appear to be any way to take advantage of this stuff unless I have access to the DNS server - which I'm hoping I DON'T have.

Back to you, Lunarpages...

I have been unable to send email to any hotmail address for the last 15 days.

Support ticket is unanswered (#2213196). Last message sent on April 8th.

Today I am experiencing difficulties connecting via POP3 to check email.

All the best,
Runaway

PS: fortunately my website is static and simple...

Thanks for the reply, Jawadt. The issue is unresolved. I updated my ticket three days ago, and have received no reply since. Supposedly if I update the ticket again, it gets pushed to the end of the queue, so feel I can't do that.

It may be that Hotmail support is slow, but LP Support is not covering themselves with glory here either. It took more than 72 hours to get a response when I first filed the ticket, and it's 72 hours and counting since I last updated it with no reply. It's ticket #2210103 in case anyone is able to light a fire under somebody about it.

Hello,

The issue should be resolved now as the emails from the server are being delivered properly to hotmail/msn. If by any chance you encounter any more issues just let us know. It seems like recently Hotmail changed the policy regarding spam received on their servers and block classes instead of unique IPs and takes a few days until we can resolve such issues.

Thank god i found this entry. I'm having the same problems on the mikula server. trying to send an email to a hotmail account through PHPMailer, but it never works. Doesn't work when I send from roundcube, horde or squirrelmail either
Code:
SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<sophi12@mikula.lunarservers.com> SIZE=2534:
    host mx3.hotmail.com [65.55.37.104]: 550 SC-001 Unfortunately, messages from 74.50.5.250 weren't sent.

Hello SophiD,

We are sorry for this and we need to get this passed to the support department for further assistance. Just email support@lunarpages.com with your domain name, username and details and I'm sure we will get this resolved.

Thanks Marian,

I raised a ticket and hopefully the issue will be resolved. Seems we now need to have an SPF record in order to have our emails to hotmail delivered!!!!   Confused Grr..!!

Hello,

Hotmail, Yahoo and other email providers often change their requirements and features in order to improve their Spam filter without any previous announcement. Adding a SPF to the domain can be easily done by the support team so hopefully this should be resolved soon.  Smiling
