I am having a problem on a daily basis that is quite annoying.  When I check Outlook 2003 for mail, usually everything sends and receives without a hitch.  However, once in a while (about once or twice a day lately) the messages will start to download, but before they all arive, the progress will stop, and then eventually I will get a timed out error.  From then on the only way to fix the problem and get rid of whatever message is causing the bottleneck is to go into webmail and delete it there.  Otherwise it will continue to always quit downloading at the same message forever.  I haven't found the problem to be just with large messages.  In fact usually it is an advertisement or some other form of garbage.  If anyone has any clue as to how to fix this, I would sure appreciate hearing about it!

Hey Marge --

I had the same problem with Outlook 2003 using an NYU IMAP email account that, for 5 years, had been working flawlessly with various versions of Outlook proper.

The solution I found that worked was to delete the NYU account, close Outlook, re-start the machine, log back on to the web, start Outlook and re-create the email address.

Everything has been running smoothly here ever since.

Good Luck!

Yours,

Thanks, David!  I'll give that a try.  Sure hope it will be that simple to fix!
