Hi All,

I have been thinking about moving our company's email from an inside self-hosted exchange server set-up to a POP3 setting on lunarpages.

What I think are reasons for doing this:
1) Reliability of power in local area causes dips in servers and causes problems.
2) Exchange is resource hog.
3) SPAM is resource hog.
4) Don't really use all the features anyway.
5) Outlook with POP3 is preferable for our people out of office

Why am I asking this?
1) Any tips on migration would be appreciated?
2) I am concerned with forum statements regarding reliability of lunarpages, I was not aware of so many issues.
3) We are a company of 70 people on various domains and I am worried about this email limit.  Is this per user or for a company as a whole?

We switched to lunarpages ages ago and I have been very happy from a reliability point of view, but as I said we hosted our own email.

I appreciate any information that you all could provide.

Thanks,

Chuck

Hi Chuck,

To be honest this would all depend on what type of email client was used on the server and if it is compatible with what LP has. For instance if you use Exim and a Linux based email server that uses to the same file structure as cPanel, it may be possible to migrate the email over.

That is actually the most critical factor, I am not sure the exact structure of the LPCP if it is setup the same as cPanel as the LPCP became in effect after my leave.

The best I can offer for advice at this point is emailing support, as it may take some time to get a response since this would likely be passed over to a supervisor or LP's server administration staff.

Email migration can be very complicated, depending on exactly the plan you use and what differences are in the software is used. As mentioned prior, I would advise contacting support on the matter so you can have a definitive answer on this.
