Hi All -

It looks like the mailing list software offered at Lunarpages applies to email-based discussion lists. When I signed up I took "mailing list" software to mean a system that would allow me to send newsletters. That is, I distribute a weekly HTML email to my subscribers and that's it. This functionality is far simpler than all that is included with MailMan, yet it appears that Lunarpages doesn't offer a package to manage such a newsletter. Am I right?

And if so, can anyone recommend a service? I've been looking at Microsoft's bCentral ListBuilder (http://www.bcentral.com/products/lb/plans.asp). Anyone have experience with it?

Try Dada mailer (fromerly Mojo mailer). Excellent program, free, and does what you want. http://mojo.skazat.com/

scanman, you rock!

Installed DaDa Mail, configured it overnight (much shorter learning curve than mailman), and sent out my first multipart MIME (HTML & ASCII) mailing within two days.  The shorter learning curve, of course, may have had to do with all the learning I had done configuring mailman...twice!  Anyway, I found the DaDa Mail interface easier to work with, especially when it came to customizing what your viewers see when they go to subscribe, etc.

I ran into some difficulties initially with sendmail apparently failing.  It had to do with one of the Perl switches in the first line of mail.cgi.  Had to change it from -T to -w.  After that, the e-mail functionality started working just fine.  Special thanks to Justin of Lunarpages Support for figuring out what the problem was.
