I connect to the internet through a Verizon DSL line and use Eudora 5.1. My ISP is Compuserve.

I recently registered and started using LWSEsq.com domain hosted by LunarPages and can receive email addressed to the LWS@LWSEsq.com address.

When I tried to send email from the LWSEsq.com personality in Eudora, I received an error message that read basically as follows:
Quote
EHLO Home.LWSEsq.com (time)  SSL Negotiation failed; cerificate error: Cert Chain not trusted. Try adding this ceritifcate to your ceritificate database for SSL to succeed. Certificate bad: Destination Host name does not match host name in Certificate Cause (-6995)

Up to now to send email, I have had to use the Verizon personality which shows the LWS@Compuserve.com reply address.

I would like to be able to send email with the LWSEsq.com reply address. Do I  just change the Verizon return address,  or is there a way to use the LWSEsq. personality?

Do I have to do anything about the SSL certificate database?

I am new to this, so step by step directions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

lwsesq2,

Well, a few things I see here.

1. Lunarpages servers are Linux, linux is notoriously case sensitive.  So typing in LWSEsq.com, as I presume you have done judging on the information you are providing here, will result in errors.

use lowercase in all cases of domain name, ftp connections to the server, smtp, and pop3 imap etc.

same goes for usernames.. these are lowercase as well..  email addresses. (johndoe@lwsesq.com ... not ... JohnDoe@LWSEsq.com or otherwise)

2.  We do not support SSL Email.  And the certificate is a shared server certificate.

.: it will not be recognized as a legitimate certificate for your domain for the purposes of secure email transactions.

(bare in mind my wording might be slightly incorrect, as I'm quite tired at this time)

Make Sure SSL is not a selected option in the Eudora client.

SMTP Authentication is required, with a valid username and password for the purposes of sending email through/with our servers.

Make the adjustments in the client, and let us know what happens from there.

Does this mean that email sent to LWS@LWSEsq.com is going to get through (at least some of the time), or only that in my set up of the client I have to be careful to use only lower case letters?

Thanks for the quick response.
