We are trying to setup WordPress (blog.aas.org) to sends an email out form the Lunarpages server to an aas.org email address. Our DNS entries are controlled through NetworkSolutions. Our MX records on NetworkSolutions send all of our mail to Google mail for our domain. However I get a bounce back to our primary email account on Lunarpages when we send test emails out with WordPress, osTicket, and similar programs. The message we get back is something like this: "Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender. No Such User Here." Our email is actually supposed to be to be going to Google mail for processing. It does not seem to make it that far. When a do an email address trace using the cPanel tool it says: "virtual_aliases via virtual_aliases router forced address failure." Sending to any email address outside the aas.org domain works fine.

I can not use Domain Forwarding in cPanel because it would be trying to forward to the same domain name. It doesn't look like Forwarders for individual email addresses would work for the same reason. I have changed the MX entry under Modify Mail Exchanger (MX Entry) in cPanel to point to ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM for all the MX entries there. That does not seem to have any affect.

Is there a way to force email to be sent through smtp.gmail.com?

I am out of ideas after searching the forums, Knowledge Base, and the FAQ pages. I have not submitted a ticket to support yet in hopes that this question can be answered here.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

If you have your DNS settings at netsol pointing your mx records elsewhere, then the same settings need to be placed on the LP hosted server as well by our support team as your domain needs to be removed from "local domains".

Send an email to support with:

MX records to use:
Last 4 of card on record:
Request to change mx records on server and removal from local domains:

Once we got this, can set you up quickly.

Troy,
We are having an issue now and I'm wondering if it is the same as the OP. Our email was originally hosted by LP, now it is hosted elsewhere. The contact script on the site works but the mail is bounced (no such user) as the server is trying to send the email locally.  In the control panel under mail > Modify Mail Exchanger (MX Entry) our entry looks like so:
Domain:
clientdomain.com

MX entry:
Priority   Entry
0      mail.clientdomain.com
10      mailspool.emailhost.com

Does LP support need to be contacted with the above info (mailspool.emailhost.com) so that mail sent from the contact script is sent to the correct (external) email host or do I need to revise the script somehow?

Thanks,

Hope

Any time you decide to have your email pointed to a server other then Lunarpages servers, you need to contact support to have the necessary changes made on the server, or else your forms will attempt to deliver locally instead of to the remove server.

Having  "0      mail.clientdomain.com " may cause the email to deliver locally, unless this has been specifically setup to use the IP address of the remote server.

Thanks. I guess I'm a little confused. I just checked with the person who handles the mail and LP tech support was contacted. I've submitted a ticket so hopefully, we can get to the bottom of it.
