ok, i just turned on spam assassin (cool feature!  i just read about it), and also enabled the spam box, just incase something gets deleted by accident.

i use outlook express to check my email -- how do i go about setting up the spam box?  do i have to create a new account?  just create a folder, and let the assassin to the rest (does it move stuff there automatically?)

As far as I know the only way to check the spam box is via webmail,
To do so you can go you yoursite.com/webmail then enters your email address as the username. Then on the right hand side (in horde) you will see a drop down menu, in the box you will see a folder named spam.

Hi drkknght,

You can view the spam box in Outlook, you just have to set up an IMAP rather than an POP3 account.  In the same area where you configure a new account, simply select IMAP instead.  You will use the same server for IMAP that you did for POP3 and the setup is basically the same.  Please note that an IMAP connection does not delete the mail off of the remote server, so you will have to either remove the mail in webmail or look to see about configuring IMAP to remove it.

I hope this helps.

ok, another quick question Smile

while i sift through my spam box, on super-rare occasion, i see an email from someone that isn't spam.  is there anyway to remove that account (or accounts) from the auto-detector thingie?

one such email was from support@lunarpages.com!!  Wink

(btw, the spam assassin absolutely rules!!!  i've caught just over 1,400 emails in my spam box since i set this up a week ago!!)

The SPAM box is helpful, but I still can't get it to do what I want...
The order appears to be FILTER > FORWARD > SPAM ASSASSIN.  I forward all of my incoming email to another account (a mobile device).  The problem is that spam assassin doesn't engage until after the email is forwarded.  Does anyone know how I can avoid having spam-flagged mail forwarded?

Thanks,
--Steve

Spam Assassin is run before the mail filters are executed.  I know this to be the case because I have a filter in place that checks the Spam Header to see if a particular mail is spam ($h_X-Spam-Status: begins "Yes") and sends identified spam to a "spam@domain.com" email account.  I do not use the Spam Box at all Sad , preferring to do it this way instead.

You could probably do the same thing except set the Spam Assassin Spam Header filter to "begins with "No" and have a destination of your mobile device.

But can you filter mail to a non-lunarpages email address?

I'm confused... I went into Outlook where I have four e-mail addresses I use. I was setting up the IMAP account when I got to password, which stopped me in my tracks.

If I have four e-mail accounts with my lunarpages domain, then do I have four spam boxes that are setup by Spam Assassin? And if so, then do I have to setup four corresponding IMAP accounts in Outlook (thus, using the password of each)? Or can I set up a forwarding filter that sends them all to one account?! Please.

Thank you!
