I'm not familiar with any way to enable HTML-based email viewing, but if you would like to edit the configuration of the webmail clients, you could always install the webmail client of your choice on your account storage.  When you are running the webmail client on your local storage, you can make changes to the configuration without is effecting other users on the shared server.
