I tried posting this general question on another board but since I'm beginning to think the problem is with frontpage I'll try here.
I want to start using some php scripts - particularly phpformgenerator and advanced poll. I can't figure out how to install and use these though.
Originally I thought all such scripts went into the cgi-bin folder, but fantastico crated a new folder for both programs. Here is where I'm at:

Phpformgenerator - I was able to create a simple registration form, but I had to alter the link form the home page to the separate page the script created for this form. I wanted to add the form to the body of a page already created with header, borders, etc. When I try this, though, the images for the form won't display. Since the folder for this program is not on my home computer (only in file manager) I'm sure its just not able to access the image folder associated with it. I may try to copy and paste the necessary images if possible and unless there is an easier way.

Advance Poll - Here is where I'm having the biggest problem because I can't even get this to work. The folder was created in file manager when I installed this through fantastico. From here I was able to create a simple voting poll. It seems to have been saved as a demo file online. It looks like I'm supposed to be able to copy and paste the code into my fp page, but when I try it either displays nothing or I see the code.

After searching online for answers I have tried to configure php file extensions through the configure editors tab. I also changed the code in the php script to start with <script language="php"> and end with </script>. I tried saving the page as both .html and .php and publishing both - nothing. Currently when viewing the source code online I can see the php script, but nothing displays.
I have seen that I must also edit a php.ini file to set asp_tags="1". I have this file on both home computer and in file manager, but there isn't a line for this. This is all I have there:
register_globals = Off

zend_extension = /usr/local/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_4.4.so

Is there anything else I should be doing? It looks like all of the suggestions I've found online should have corrected this problem, but I'm still not having any luck.

I can't answer all of your questions but will offer that

* Pages with PHP scripting on them usually need to have a .php file extension.

* PHP scripting, if pasted into an existing page, should be pasted into code view.

* Since PHP is a server-side scripting language, do not expect to see the page properly on your computer. Publish to the server and view in a web browser.

All the best, Rick E

I did all of this. The code was pasted in code view (including one small section for advanced poll that directed the code be put at the top before the html code.) I also didn't expect to see anything in design or preview since the php programs were installed through file manager in cPanel and do not exist on my home computer. Still, though, after publishing I either saw no change or I saw the code itself as if was text.
