Here's the skinny.

Basically, I've been doing a whole lot of website revisions in frontpage, and now all the sudden my subdomains don't work.

Apparently frontpage deleted the folders the subdomains used?

Anybody else ever heard of this?  have any suggestions to prevent it happening in the future?

Thanks!

I assume FrontPage would have deleted files and folders off the server that were not present in your web site on your computer. What am I missing?

You're referring to subdomains set up in the LunarPages cPanel, not FrontPage subswebs, right?

Hi,

I had someone send in a ticket last night with FrontPage that also appeared to have deleted their subdomain folders in Cpanel.  You can remove the subdomains in Cpanel, then recreate them to get the folders back for them to work.  Of course, anything in the folders won't be retrievable.  I would suggest making a backup in Cpanel in the future if you have information in the subdomain folders and are going to be working with FrontPage.  I would also be interested in how you deleted the folders exactly so I can warn other people to avoid doing it. Smile

Thanks.

This issue arises when folks create the subdomain and folder in cPanel but do not create a matching folder in their FrontPage web on their computer.

When FrontPage publishes it checks for extra files and folders on the server. FrontPages says to itself, "I see a folder on the server that needs to be deleted because it is no longer present on the local site. I should delete that folder off the server."  FrontPage gives a warning and asks if it's OK, but most of us just click right through and automatically say Yes.

In FrontPage 2003 the solution is to use the synchronize option when publishing so that the new folder (and files) on the server is (are) replicated back on the local computer.

For older versions of FrontPage, just be sure to manually create a matching folder on the local web.
