I am trying to publish my site via FrontPage. I go to publish site and click on the "FrontPage or Share Point Services", and I type in my domain name, click OK and a error message pops up "unable to open 'http://domainname'.com Server error: the websrever at 'http://domainnamen.com' does not appear to have Windows Sharepoint Services installed". And then it gives me a list of possible causes.
Now I have called in to make sure that I had the extensions installed, however I have no idea what the Share Point Servicesare and if I need to have them installed in my FrontPage or if I could just do without the extensions and just publish my site via FTP. Please Help.  Confused

You don't say whether you are on a Linux or Windows server. But on Linux servers and probably Windows servers also you can use the LunarPages control panel to install the FrontPage server extensions on your own. If the extensions are installed publish to http://domainname.com like you are.

If you do not use the FrontPage features that require the extensions, you can publish using FTP publishing, however in that case I still prefer the HTTP publishing over FTP.

You can tell if the extensions are installed and working by browsing to your home page, selecting the Internet Explorer File menu and choosing Edit With FrontPage. If the extensions are installed and working you will be presented with a username/password prompt. If the page opens  in FrontPage without a password prompt, the extensions are not working.

Hi,

If you are on a Linux Plan and you've installed FP extensions and you are getting the error that FP is not installed you should check permissions for public_html. If they are correct just open a ticket and someone from support should help you fixing this.  Very Happy
