A few weeks ago I added an "Add-on Domain" to my account.  I had FrontPage working fine on my primary domain, but when the Add-on Domain was added, I started having problems.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the extentions several times on both domains trying get it working.  Now, if I uninstall the extentions from my sub-domain (add-on domain), I get a 403 Forbidden error when trying access it from a Browser.  I cured that problem by reinstalling the extentions.

When I try to open either domain as a Web in FrontPage 2003, I get errors that "Windows Sharepoint Services" are not available.  I have disabled the need for these services on my end in the Tools/Page Options menu of FrontPage, but I still receive the error.

I've also seen this error quite a bit:
Server error: FrontPage requires that the AllowOverride option be set to something other than "None" (typically set in access.conf).  "All" is the preferred AllowOverride option for the document root.

Not sure what's going on here, but I get these errors even before I'm prompted for a username & password.  I simply cannot use FrontPage anymore.

Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

Maybe the addition of the add-on kills the FrontPage extensions and the reinstallation of the extensions kills the add-on domain. They both may modify the .htaccess file to the other's dislike.

Maybe when the add-on domain is added it rewrites the .htaccess file, which usually confuses the FrontPage extensions (the extensions like to be in control of the .htaccess file.)

Try this...

* With the add-on domain working, use the cPanel to download a copy of the .htaccess file to your computer and view it in Notepad.

* Reinstall the FrontPage extensions to get the FrontPage extensions working again. Then use cPanel again to download the FrontPage .htaccess file, and compare the two versions in Notepad.

* Maybe you can manually incorporate the add-on domain lines at the end of the FrontPage version of the .htaccess file without freaking-out FrontPage. Make the changes to .htaccess in Notepad and upload the file back to the server.

Rick E:

Thanks for replying to my post.  Currently, the extensions are not installed (I uninstalled them using the CPanel).  Right now, I'm getting a 403 Forbidden error on my Add-on domain.  Main domain is working fine.  FrontPage obviously doesn't work right now.  If i reinstall the extensions, the Add-on domain will work again, but FrontPage still won't.

Is there something special I need to have in my .htaccess file to make both happy?  Can I put it in there manually?

I appreciate your help.  I emailed support and they offered to install the extensions manually - do you think this would help?

You might try in cPanel uninstalling the add-on domain then adding it again to get it working again. After getting the add-in domain working then I'd try comparing the .htaccess files as I outlined in my first post to see what lines you need to add to the FrontPage .htaccess for the add-in domain.

I can't be of much specific help because I've never done an add-in domain.  Cool
