Can you tell me in simple terms if I can install this using FrontPage and how to do it or point me to a thread that has the instructions.  I also publish from inside of FP if that helps any. Thanks in advance!

You can install PHPBB through Frontpage publishing option however I wouldn't recommend it.  You may ofcourse not experience any errors, but I have personally always used an FTP client to install scripts simply because there can be some conflicts with the Frontpage vti-cnf folders that are installed in the folder automatically when you perform tasks inside of Frontpage.

I have experienced a lot of complications with various scripts and I wouldn't always realize that this was the error until I performed a lot of troubleshooting or discovered it in mysql logs.  But again you may have no problems with this particular script, so you are welcomed to try it or just use your file manager in cpanel or any ftp client that you can get from versiontracker.com.  Hope this helps Smile

I agree with Heather Tait, it's a lot easier to keep your scripts separate from your Front Page pages. I have my scripts in separate sub-folders that are not part of my Front Page pages. So when I publish changes it doesn't affect the script. I've had no problem using FTP for the scripts as long as I am careful to not FTP anything into my Front Page pages where I do publish.

FrontPage used to require a set of server-side plugins originally known as IIS Extensions. The extension set was significantly enhanced for Microsoft inclusion of FrontPage into the Microsoft Office line-up with Office 97 and subsequently renamed FrontPage Server Extensions . Both sets of extensions needed to be installed on the target Web server for its content and publishing features to work.

cpanel and fantastico is the best way to install phpbb or any other discussion board cms. The chances of you ending up with an error are further reduced
