I use Frontpage 2003 and have now for a couple of years with no problems.  Just recently I have had complaints about my website not working when using Firefox.  I downloaded Firefox and sure enough, most of my hyperlinks do not work (plus the site looks grainy).

What do I need to do to fix this  Confused  I have browsed the topics on the forum and cannot find a solution to this problem.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated  In Heaven

When replying, please keep in mind that although I work on the site, I am not a programmer and need things explained in a fairly simple manner.  My website is www.mcknightauctionservice.com.

Thank you!

Hello,

The problem with the links has to do with the way your site was created. The problem is that the site uses non-standard methods that Microsoft created to make it easy for non-professionals to create web sites. The unfortunate fact is that non-Microsoft browsers do not display pages that were created with these non-standard methods correctly.

It appears that the site was either created in Microsoft FrontPage using "themes" or "shared borders" or created using Microsoft Word. These methods create the backgrounds, shared navigational bars, and shared borders.

The solution is to open the web in FrontPage and remove the "themes" etc. The good news is that the links should start working and most of the content will remain intact. The bad news is that you will have to redo the yellow border and do some fiddling with some of the other formatting on the page.

I removed the theme on the home page and posted the result at http://steubenlakes.org/mcknight/ for you to see and test in Firefox.

A tip for the future.

When you make the structure and template for a website NEVER make it using FrontPage tools. I only use FrontPage because it easily shows me what my code looks like and can help with exact positioning being converting Pixels to EM or %.

But yeah, never use FrontPage to make the basic site, I only use it to make some flashy things that FrontPage has. But then the problem with that is, you will need to make another style sheet to keep FireFox users happy.
