Ever since I've started publishing my site using HTML, rather than FTP (but still in FP2003), I've had problems with the Status of files. I can do a full publish of everything, and some files will still show Unmatched on both local and remote server. On /some/ files (but not all), even if I Copy the file by selecting it and using the arrow, it will show Unchanged on both locations; but as soon as I Refresh (F5), or browse away and back to the directory, they're both Mismatched again.

Basically, this is making the Status, a rather important thing, completely worthless. I emailed Microsoft, and surpisingly got a response, first by email, and then by phone. We spend numerous hours on the phone. And basically, if I publish to a Windows server they have set up, all is well. But if I publish to my Unix server at LunarPages, I have the problem.

Lunarpages support say they have heard of no such problem. Any ideas on how to cure the problem? I think I've tried most everything. Even published my whole site temporarily to a new subweb on my site, with the same (wrong) results. I just can't seem to make that Status come up right. What makes it even more weird is that it seems to affect only certain files. I can rename, move, and then put them back, but the problem still exists.

Does anyone else have this problem or similar?

I've seen this mentioned from time to time but have not seen a resolution. If the correct changed files are being published I'd just forget it, although I understand it's a bit frustrating for it not to be just right.

If you want to try once more you could start fresh by...

* In the control panel, uninstall the extensions
* In the control panel delete everything inside the public_html folder
* Reinstall the extensions
* Publish your site, using HTTP publishing.

If it works correctly now, avoid all future FTP publishing.
