Hi,

I am currently hosting a website on a basic lunarpages shared plan. I am looking to upgrade to a VPS eventually because I would like to host my own Teamspeak server. I have 2 questions for you all...

1) How hard is it to migrate my site over from the hosted space to a VPS? Is it simply a matter of moving the files and the mysql databases and then changing the nameservers, or am I over simplifying things.

2) How easy is it to open a port for the Teamspeak server?

I appreciate any info you can throw me!

Thanks
Bob

Hi Rtedgar,

1) All depends on the control panel that will be used on your VPS server. If  your current shared server has cPanel and you'll be able to use cPanel on the VPS host , the move is usually just a matter of backing up of your account on the shared host, restoring it on VPS and then changing the nameservers.

2) It shouldn't be hard to open a port in firewall for Teamspeak server. If it will be closed, admins either will be able to assist you with that or will provide the instructions on doing that with relation to your VPS setup.
