not necesarily, just because the copyright isn't stated, doesn't mean it isn't there. you should contact the owner of the website and ask for permission. If permission is granted then you can use it.

Regardless of whether or not their is a copyright notice on an image, that image *is* copyright protected.  Anything written, designed, photographed, etc is automatically protected the moment it is created, so unless you made it yourself, you have to get permission.

Mike: Very true.

As soon as a file is put on the web, it is as Frontpage like to call it, Published. Therefore you will need permission by the website administrator.

what if a site says that people can download its image collections for free?
And it's collections might from other sites which I do not know. I can not get hold of the site owner.
The other related question is whether there will be copy right issues if I take pictures of toys? like the famous mouse.

Thanks in advance

There are some sites that offer free pictures that you can use on your websites, and those are legal. If you cannot get a hold of the owner of the pictures, then you can still not use them.

another good way to make sure that nobody else can use your images (if they're of your own design) is to register them...you don't have to register them for them to be copyrighted...but it doesn't hurt to make sure that if the need arises, you can legally retain them...

here's a good link for you to get some information, and even register items/images

keep in mind that there's a fee for registering copyrights though... Very Happy

that usually depends on the type of site you want to use them on...if it's a non-commercial site, or non-profit, then you can use them for free

but if it's a business site, or a 'for profit' site of any kind, some image sites require you to ask permission, and usually reply with 'to use that image you'll have to pay X amount of dollars per year, or X amount one time'

I know you have a 99.937% lager to 0.063% blood ratio Garvey, so that probably makes you a MAJOR shareholder   Razz but  Embarassed Should you be using your avatar  Question  Question
