So was everyone busy last week? Did the topic suck? Or has general interest in the Photoshop contest faded? I'd be happy to continue running them, but only if you people are going to participate.

I dont think people are motivated enough Brian. Maybe we need to give out some sort of prize, say an extra ftp account for the server of the winner.

You should talk to Max before making any promises like that!

Why yes. I dont think we can give around free accounts like that Although, i do still have my moderator account i never requested. We might do something with that if i dont find anything to do with it. I would participate. But i worked too much last week (they gave me an extra ten hours. oh yay. Like i needed to work more) plus im getting started on finals. But I will post something in last weeks. I do love personal manips , i just took out a pic and ill start working on it tomrrow or something. And yes i know the contest has ended. but i still want to enter something there

I was thinking about prizes too, but I wasn't going to get into that until we had plenty of people participating. I was thinking more along the lines of Donkey Punch Productions merchandise or something, though. Remember, just because we're forum mods doesn't mean we can go around handing out free Lunar Pages stuff. Hehe. Besides, if it was going to be a weekly contest, the prizes couldn't be all that fantastic anyways.."2.5 Ghz P4 computer to this week's winner!" Sure, we'd get a ton of entries. Maybe we can just say it got lost in the mail...Heh.

Do something simple. See if Max wants to set-up a storefront at a place like CafePress and offer low-cost prizes like mousepads, T-shirts, hats, etc. Not only does the person get a prize, Lunarpages gets promotion. My 2 cents.

That's a definate possiblity, but I'm not sure if it makes much sense at the current level of participation we have. Right now, there are only, like, six people contributing and most of them are mods. In order to keep things fair, I don't think mods should be eligible for prizes (since we'd be doing the voting), so that would leave, like, 2 or 3 people rotating between the prizes. I know offering a prize (even a gimmicky self-promotional prize) will draw in a few more people, but I don't think it makes much sense until we have a critical mass of 30-40 non-mods participating. Otherwise, LunarOrbit and Rocknrob are going to have a garage full of Lunar Pages mouse pads. Heh.

Maybe if you say a person is only eligble for a prize once every other month or something, this way, more people will feel they have a chance to win something. I guarantee that if a prize is offered and people realize the same folks won't always win, more will participate.

I guess it can't hurt to give it a try. If it works, then it means lots of repeat visits to the forums. I'll talk to the powers that be about this and see what they think. Also, Autarkis...Would you consider turning your free mod account into a Lunar Forums Photoshop Contest image host? I'm thinking along the lines of a little form where the user can upload a pic and the form returns the URL of the pic so that it can be copied and pasted into the contest. I'd also recommend setting your hot linking to only allow lunarforums.com, just so no one abuses the free image hosting. This will encourage people who don't yet have webspace to play along.

hmm. did i say anything about promising free accounts? Maybe we need to give out some sort of prize, say an extra ftp account for the server of the winner. It sais maybe. not promise. And i didnt mean a free lunar account. I meant an extra ftp account on thier server. E.g my server has only 2 ftp account, annonoymous and the main account. If i wanted another ftp account then i would have to pay extra.

How about we put the winner's website URL on the forums here. We could make space somewhere on the forum and post the link, and every week we will have a new link there of the winner. It'd be nice, especially if we could make a small box somewhere on the bottom of the forum and put the winning image in there with the winner's name and site URL.
