Welcome to the first of what will hopefully be our weekly Photoshop Contests. For those of you unfamiliar with the rules, it's pretty simple: Using your favourite graphics program *cough*Photoshop rules*cough* and the source image that is provided for that week, make your own image. Generally, these are funny images, but if you want to do something artsy fartsy, then go for it. The only rule is that the source image has to be involved. You can paste stuff into the picture or cut things out of it and stick them into your own picture. You can take take a paintbrush and give everyone Captain Morgan mustaches. It's up to you. Just have fun. And for you beginners out there, don't be afraid to participate. The only way to learn this stuff is by doing it over and over again. Without further ado, our first source image:

Yeah, since there are no prizes on the line (or any official scoring, for that matter) anyone with a lunarforums account can play. Submit as many entries as you'd like. This is for fun, after all.

Just wondering how you added the shadows under the ballerina's... are they hand drawn, or is there a tool in Photoshop to do it? Very cool, either way. I've got a few more ideas... I'll post more later. Kel

I have each ballerina cut out on her own layer. I ctrl clicked the layer, which selects the contents (in this case, the outline of the ballerina). I then made a new layer below the ballerina layer and filled the selection with black. Then I used the transform tool to skew the black silhouette so that the shadows more or less matched the ones in the photo. Then I did a blur to soften them a bit and cranked the opacity of the layer down quite a bit.
