I'm looking for a good banner designer for my website www.smootherthanbutter.com. Is there any that you might suggest? So far the only one I've really found is http://www.netstudio.com/index.asp?r=2&s=banners&d=bannermaker . However, I don't know of anyone who has used it.

I'm very partial to PhotoImpact.  Not only does it have tons of templates it is a great digital photo tool.  I rate it as high as Paint Shop Pro, both are great tools.  PhotoImpact runs $89.00 box/$79.00 DL at http://www.ulead.com

Here is the PDF with all the tech stuff.  The component designer is what creates the buttons.  http://www.ulead.com/pi/pi_benefit.pdf

You should start using Photoshop 7.0 and combine some flash skills, the banner will be more than a A+ on the site.

I use Photoshop 7 For my design and then import the PSD file to ImageReady. Photoshop does the designs. Imageready does the tweening and animations. Plus i can use slices. Smile

I don't like Photo Impact although it is cheap. I do agree that Photoshop and ImageReady or Macromedia Flash are the best way to go, but they are also expensive to get a hold of legally. PaintShopPro is a very good, easy to use program that includes Animation Shop. PSP8 has a free trial DL and is $99 if you buy and download it. or you if you anly wnat the Animation part it.s20 bucks or something.

So if you've got the dough (or your own other resources that I won't discuss here) then definitely get PShop7. Otherwise PSP8 is at http://www.jasc.com/products/paintshoppro/ and you can get a 30 day free trial flash at http://macromedia.com.

paint shop pro is a good program.  i'd rate it second to photoshop and use it quite a bit.

great little capture feature too.

Hmmm. Better not be what i'm thinking you mean.
If it is I don't want to see any reference to that particular activity around this subforum.
