Hello... Hopefully video questions are OK in the Graphics Forum.

What's with Netscape 7.0 and Windows video?  I have some Windows media files (.wmv) which are pointed to using .wvx files (little text files with the location of the .wmv files in them).

A link to the .wvx file causes the .wmv file to run just wonderfully in Internet Explorer.  Netscape, on the other hand, simply displays the text contents of the .wvx file.  When linked directly to the .wmv file, it displays it as a million miles of gobbledygook text.  (Also disabling the "back" button on the browser in both cases, much to my further annoyance.)

Before I start banging my head on this, I thought I would cast the question out to you experienced folks.  Am I missing something browser-specific to Netscape?  Is there a plug-in I don't have or a setting I haven't set?  And, if so, how can I warn my viewers about it before they fail to see my video?

Anybody seen this?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Netscape displays my Quicktime files just fine.

Yar!  Is this somehow MIME-related?

Yes, it was MIME-related.  The .asf, .wmv and .wvx file types had not been defined.  Once I did that, it worked in Netscape.

Thanks.  I couldn't have done it without you.
