The following was sent to all shared customers:

Hello,

PHP and Zend Optimizer will be upgraded on all servers.  The upgrades will last no longer than thirty minutes per server.  The upgrades are to patch security issues and have no affect on coding.  After testing the upgrades, we have found no issues.  We anticipate no service interruption or degradation of services during this upgrade and this email is for informational purposes only.

Php will be upgraded to version 4.4.1 and Zend Optimizer will be upgraded to 2.5.10a.

Please see the following thread for the schedule of upgrades:  [here]

A code issue involving SMF version 1.0.5 and less has arisen since Lunarpages has begun upgrading  PHP to 4.4.1

The typical error message being received is:

Notice: Only variables should be assigned by reference in
/home/username1/public_html/smf/Sources/Subs.php on line 232

Notice: Undefined index: is_admin in
/home/username1/public_html/smf/Sources/Security.php on line 556

Notice: Undefined index: permissions in
/home/username1/public_html/smf/Sources/Security.php on line 563

Warning: in_array(): Wrong datatype for second argument in
/home/username1/public_html/smf/Sources/Security.php on line 563
session_start(): Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent
(output started at /home/username1/public_html/smf/Sources/Subs.php:232)

SMF has this thread at their website:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=41955.0

One of their quick easy solutions mentioned is to remove the &  (ampersand) from the following code in  /Sources/Subs.php

= &mysql_query

We have seen instances where this quick fix DOES NOT work, so we recommend a script upgrade if changing this setting does not work.

The upgrade to either SMF version 1.0.5 or the new 1.1.RC1 can be found here:
http://www.simplemachines.org/download.php

NOTE: If you have mods installed on your forum, you will have to reinstall them after a core upgrade or new installation.

Lunarpages is offering for a limited time an SMF Upgrade Service for the discounted price of $19.95.  If you would like Lunarpages to make the script correction or upgrade for you, please email support@lunarpages.com  with your account username, the last 4 digits of your credit card on file with us for billing, and the location of your SMF installation, and permission to charge your credit card for this service.   NOTE:  Lunarpages will provide the upgrade of the core, but customers using mods for their SMF forum will need to reinstall their own mods.
