OK, is it just me or are others noticing there dozens of new forum members who post once under several aliases just to post their spam signatures.
I understand we all have legit businesses and it's great to put them in your sig but I see more and more blatant spam in the form of..... Hi I'm new and then 3-4 links for spam in the signature. I report them all day long but they are getting more and more frequent. The person never does post a second time, instead I see the same links in another persons signature. Spam for sure, I guarantee it.
I would like to introduce a motion to not allow signatures until you have contributed to the forum in a constructive manner. In other words when you get a couple dozen posts under your belt you will be given the privilege of posting a legit signature or link back to a non spamming website.
Does anyone agree with me?
It's a simple mod to install, but most forum software now has this as a standard feature.

I agree with the suggestion. The spammers on this forum are out of control. Perhaps the ability to dredge up 6 year old posts and post nonsense or "copy and pasted" from above post should be limited.

Most of other forums do this and it is a great way to stop spammers. I think this post should be sticky and mention the rules for signatures so everyone can notice  |

The forum settings have been adjusted and for those of you who try to get around it by posting your own site link in your reply, please be aware that we remove those links so don't bother.

Out of curiosity, what parameters is it set at?
In my forums I always set it at 6 posts required before a sig was allowed but I have seen boards with settings as high as 25.

Read this topic Signatures are now restricted until you reach a minimum posting level. So sit back, relax, post a spell and your signature will be working before you know it. The signature will attach to all your previous posts once you have permission to set it up. |
